Manually configuring Dial-Up Networking: Windows 95/98
NOTE: When possible, you should use the Internet Connection Wizard to configure your internet connection.

- Double-click on the My Computer icon.
- Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Double-click on the Make New Connection icon.
- Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing, type NetTally
- Click the Configure button.
Check that the appropriate port speed for your modem (for 14.4 modems use 57600, for 28.8 and faster modems use 115200.)
Make sure that Only connect at this speed is not checked.
Click the OK button.
- Click the Next button.
- In the Area code and Telephone number text boxes, type in your local access number:

- Click the Next button, then Finish.
- Right-click the NetTally icon and choose Properties.
- Click the Server Type tab (in the original, non-updated release of Windows 95, this is a button).
- For Type of Dial-Up Server, either of the following should already be selected:
PPP: Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 98
PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet.
- Uncheck EVERYTHING except for the following items:
Enable software compression
TCP/IP
- If you click on the TCP/IP Settings button, the following should already be correctly set:
Server assigned IP address
Server assigned name server addresses
Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network
- Click the OK button.
